Le sermon sur la Montagne (Mathieu 5,6,7) Le sermon sur la Montagne (Mathieu 5,6,7)
Verse:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Introduction:
In our world filled with uncertainties and challenges, it is comforting to know that Jesus Christ is in control. He is the Master of the universe, and nothing escapes His sight or His power. This devotion explores the sovereignty of Christ and how we can find peace in knowing that He controls all things.
1. The Sovereignty of Jesus Christ:
Jesus Christ is sovereign over all creation. Colossians 1:16-17 tells us, “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible… all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” This means that nothing happens by chance and everything is under His control. His sovereignty assures us that even in difficult times, He has a perfect plan.
2. Peace in the Storm:
One of the most iconic stories in the Bible is when Jesus calms the storm (Mark 4:35-41). The disciples, panicked by the violent elements, woke Jesus, who was sleeping peacefully. With a simple command, He calms the sea and the wind. This story reminds us that no matter what storm we are going through, Jesus is capable of calming it. He is with us in every situation and gives us His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
3. Trusting His Plan:
It is often difficult to understand why certain things happen, but we must remember that God has a plan for every life. As Jeremiah 29:11 declares, His plans are to prosper us and not to harm us. It is crucial to trust His will, even when things do not go as planned. Proverbs 3:5-6 exhorts us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
4. Living Under His Lordship:
Recognizing that Jesus Christ is in control also means living under His lordship. This involves submitting every aspect of our lives to Him: our decisions, our relationships, our work, and our dreams. Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” By placing Jesus at the center of our lives, we can walk confidently, knowing He guides us every step.
Conclusion:
Knowing that Jesus Christ controls all things brings us immense peace and security. He is our refuge, our strength, and our guide. No matter what we go through, we can be certain that our lives are in His capable and loving hands.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we thank You for being sovereign over all things. Help us to trust You and remember that You are in control, even when life seems chaotic. Give us Your peace and guide us in all our decisions. May our lives reflect Your lordship and glorify Your name. Amen.
