Proverbs 27:21: “The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but people are tested by their praise.”
Today, I would like to remind you of the importance of having a good reputation, no matter who you are. Whether you like it or not, it is essential to be aware of the need to watch over your reputation, among other things.
A good reputation reflects what others say about us or the image we have built for ourselves. Let’s remember that the Bible emphasizes in Ecclesiastes 7:1: “A good name is better than fine perfume.” This verse highlights the importance of a good reputation compared to superficial material goods like perfume.
Every pastor, deacon, or leader must adopt an irreproachable lifestyle and strive to maintain a good image in all circumstances. It is true that sometimes, it does not depend on us. Some people, for their interests or other reasons, will always try to tarnish our image. However, we should not be discouraged by what others say about us.
When you are hated by one person or several, they may try to sully your image with lies and insults, which can affect you. In those moments, you can recall this passage from Psalms 12:3: “May the Lord cut off all flattering lips and the tongue that speaks proud things.”
Let us not forget that your actions will build your testimony.
