Cyan Urrego, the only girl among the five finalists, secured third place with her excellent mastery of the stage and flawless recitation of passages. Atticus Lake, although less known, charmed the audience with his humor and reactions, earning him fourth place. Daniel Turner, the most entertaining finalist, kept the hosts and audience engaged with his humorous responses, even when unsure of an answer. His lively presence since the semi-final round added a unique dynamic to the competition.
The five finalists of the Primary category will receive prizes, with Daniel Chew taking home the first prize of $10,000, accompanied by medals for each finalist. This recognition celebrates their hard work, dedication, and exceptional knowledge of the Bible.
The National Bible Bee Competition is an annual event in the United States that encourages young people to deepen their understanding of the Bible and foster a closer relationship with God. Founded in 2009 by the Shelby Kennedy Foundation, the competition honors Shelby Kennedy, who passed away on May 31, 2005.
The competition is divided into two main stages: the Summer Study and the National Competition. The Summer Study typically begins in June and lasts for eight weeks, during which participants receive a study guide and resources to help them explore and memorize specific Bible passages. At the end of this period, a preliminary test determines who qualifies for the National Competition.
The competition is open to young people aged 7 to 18, divided into three age divisions: Primary (7-10), Junior (11-14), and Senior (15-18). The National Competition, held in the fall, features the top 360 contestants from the Summer Study. It includes multiple rounds, such as oral and written tests, scripture recitation, and Bible knowledge quizzes. If you are interested take this quiz now.
Contestants compete for significant scholarships and prizes, with the top winners in each age division receiving substantial awards. The competition emphasizes not only the memorization of scripture but also the understanding and application of biblical principles.
The Bible Bee fosters a supportive community where participants can grow both spiritually and intellectually. Many participants and their families form lasting friendships and connections through the competition.
Participants have access to various study materials, including workbooks, online tools, and video lessons, all designed to aid in their preparation. These resources focus on enhancing biblical literacy and encouraging personal reflection and application of biblical teachings.
The National Bible Bee Competition is a meaningful opportunity for young people to engage with the Bible, build their faith, and connect with others who share their passion for scripture. Daniel Chew’s victory in the Primary category, alongside the remarkable performances of his fellow finalists, highlights the dedication and talent present in these young competitors. Their achievements are a testament to the enduring impact of the Bible Bee on the lives of its participants.
