Living by the Truth: A Christian’s Divine Obligation

Everyone has their guide to live by; however, the Bible is the ultimate holy guide for Christians. Living by the truth is not merely a recommendation—it is a divine obligation, for no liar will inherit the Kingdom of God. Revelation 21:8 reminds us: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

As followers of Christ, we are called to work toward the Kingdom of Glory, and this requires us to live by the truth and within the truth. But what is the truth? Truth is not merely subjective; it is an absolute reality defined by God’s Word. Romans 9:1 says: “I say the truth in Christ…” The truth in Christ is not rooted in worldly standards but in biblical realities. Have you filtered your truth through the lens of the Holy Scriptures?

This raises an important question: Can we live in such truth in today’s world? In a time when what was once considered right is now viewed as wrong, and when new trends contradicting God’s Word are embraced, how do we stay grounded in the truth? Would God command us to do something impossible? Of course not. Romans 5:20 offers hope: “But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.” God’s grace empowers us to live by His truth, even in challenging times.

Living in the truth is not easy; it is a daily battle. But by God’s grace, it is possible. This morning, let us come before the Almighty and seek His help:

Prayer:

Father God, in the name of Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son, we humbly bow before Your throne. We acknowledge our sins and cry out for Your mercy. Forgive us, Lord, as we forgive those who have wronged us. Father, we confess that we have strayed from Your truth in our way of living. In this world where truth is distorted and righteousness is challenged, we ask for Your grace to help us stand firm.

May Your truth dwell in us, Lord, so that we may speak and live by it in all circumstances. You have called us to be people of truth, and we know that it is impossible to achieve this in our strength. But through the power of the Holy Spirit, our divine guide, we can walk the path of righteousness and fulfill Your calling for our lives.

Father, let Your grace abound in us, and may Your truth transform us from the inside out. Strengthen us to overcome the flesh and live in obedience to Your Word. We pray this with faith and humility, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
