In a world often starved for hope and authenticity, author Amy J. Malay has made it her mission to deliver both through stories rooted in faith, resilience, and redemption. With books such as Planting Seeds of Hope, Benny the Bear Cub, and He Never Stops Working, Malay has emerged as a compelling voice in faith-based literature, sharing narratives that illuminate God’s love and transformative power.

The Genesis of Hope

Malay’s writing journey began with a personal calling—a realization that her own story was not just for her, but meant to encourage others. Her second book, Planting Seeds of Hope: Stories of God’s Life-Transforming Power, was born out of that conviction. What started as a compilation of testimonies turned into a deeply collaborative effort to share God’s work in ordinary lives across the globe.

“Jesus told stories to teach spiritual truths,” Malay says, referencing Matthew 13. “I wanted to follow His example by helping others share their stories of transformation.” That passion evolved into a mission: to give others a platform and a voice, fostering a ripple effect of faith and healing.

A Child’s Heart, A Universal Message

Malay’s storytelling doesn’t stop with adult audiences. In Benny the Bear Cub, she takes a personal narrative—her son Jebastin’s testimony—and adapts it into a children’s story. “His child-like heart inspired me,” she shares. “Even though the story came from hard circumstances, we wanted young readers to walk away knowing that nothing can separate them from God’s love.”

By blending lighthearted moments with serious life lessons, Malay crafts a story that resonates with children and adults alike. “We all have child-like hearts,” she reflects. “And we all need to be reminded of God’s presence in our lives, no matter our age.”

When God Writes the Story

Perhaps Malay’s most personal work, He Never Stops Working, recounts the events that led to a life-changing reunion with her son. “I always knew I would write a book one day, but I didn’t know when,” she explains. That moment arrived in 2020, when a friend encouraged her to begin writing after hearing her story. What followed was a powerful testament of divine orchestration, revealing how God had been working behind the scenes all along.

“The process showed me more of the story than I ever realized,” she says. “It was like being the woman at the well in John 4—telling everyone about a God who knows us fully and loves us deeply.”

Faith Through the Written Word

Malay’s ability to blend storytelling with spiritual truth has grown over time. Once hesitant to share her own story, she came to realize that her life experiences—good and bad—were part of a greater narrative written by God. “There is a spiritual theme in every part of our stories,” she affirms. “Even the painful parts can serve a redemptive purpose.”

This conviction shines through in all her work, particularly in her willingness to address difficult subjects. As a survivor of childhood abuse, Malay says God gave her the strength to forgive early on, an act that later brought healing and perspective. “His faithfulness in that journey transformed me,” she says. “And I want others to know He can do the same for them.”

Reaching Young Hearts and Teaching Old Truths

With years of experience teaching Sunday school and nurturing young minds, Malay has a deep appreciation for how stories impact all ages. “When I write for children, I want them to laugh, wonder, and learn that God is with them even in their toughest moments.” Her desire is not just to entertain, but to guide her readers into deeper truths, gently and imaginatively.

Overcoming the Inner Critic

Malay admits that writing about spiritual matters comes with its challenges. “Sometimes I’m convinced by my own words. I question whether I’m qualified to write them.” But her faith reminds her that God equips those He calls. “It’s His message, not mine,” she says. “My job is just to be obedient.”

Influences and Intentional Living

Malay credits John C. Maxwell and the Maxwell Leadership Team for helping her pursue her passion with purpose. Through Maxwell’s teachings, especially Intentional Living, she discovered her mission: “Planting seeds of hope based on the truth of God’s Word so that others might pursue their God-given dreams.”

This mission is the heartbeat of her writing—whether she’s sharing testimonies, narrating a child’s journey, or revealing her walk of faith.

What’s Next?

Amy Malay isn’t finished. She is currently outlining a new book that explores the blessings that come when we say “yes” to God’s calling. In addition to writing, she hopes to share her testimony more broadly through speaking engagements. “If anyone is looking for a speaker to share a story of adoption, transformation, and God’s redeeming power,” she says, “I’d be honored to connect.”
